Fitting A Parcel Drop Box: A Step-by-Step Guide for Secure Deliveries

As online shopping continues to flourish, protecting packages from theft and harsh weather conditions becomes essential. A parcel post box offers a practical and stylish answer, ensuring that deliveries remain safe and secure.

Fitting a parcel drop box at your home provides peace of mind, knowing that your packages are shielded from potential theft and the elements. So here at Brizebox we’ve created a comprehensive step-by-step guide to ensure the effortless installation of your new parcel drop box, whether you opt for a standalone model or a built-in design.

Tools and Materials Needed for Fitting a Parcel Drop Box

Tools

  • Drill with a 12mm masonry drill bit
  • Alan key (if using a post)
  • Level
  • Measuring tape
  • Torch (for visibility)
  • Screwdriver
  • Circular Saw (for built-in)

Materials

  • Parcel drop box
  • Screws and wall plugs (provided with the parcel drop box)
  • Concrete (for post installation, if applicable)
  • Cement (for securing the post)

Fitting A Standalone Parcel Drop Box

You can easily install your standalone parcel drop box next to your front door or driveway for easy access for delivery carriers. Follow these steps for a seamless installation:

Step 1: Remove the Parcel Box from Its Packaging

  • Carefully take the parcel drop box out of its packaging.

Step 2: Prepare for Installation

  • Remove the four rubber grommets from the back of the parcel box.
  • Remove the drawer

Step 3: Mark the Installation Points

  • If the ground isn’t entirely flat, consider getting help to keep the box flush against the wall during installation.
  • Use the open bottom door to mark where the grommet holes fall on the wall with a pen, using your torch for visibility.

Step 4: Drill Holes

  • Move the parcel drop box aside and drill into the marked holes using your drill.

Step 5: Secure the Parcel Box

  • Position the parcel box back against the wall, aligning it with the drilled holes.
  • Thread the provided screws through the holes from the inside and secure them tightly with your screwdriver.

Note: The extra-large standalone parcel drop box must be placed directly on the floor, while the standard and large standalone parcel drop box can be secured to a wall.

Fitting a Standalone Parcel Drop Box to a Post

If you prefer a more traditional look for your standalone box, consider fitting it onto a post. Follow these steps:

Step 1: Cement the Post

  • Cement your post into the ground at your desired location, ensuring it’s secure.

Step 2: Prepare the Parcel Box

  • Lay the parcel drop box flat with the front facing upwards.
  • Remove the rubber grommets to expose the four holes in the bottom.

Step 3: Attach the Bracket Plate

  • Line up the bracket plate with the bottom of the unit. Open the parcel box door for better access.
  • Use your Alan key to loosely screw in the four outer threaded holes, securing the plate to the parcel box.

Step 4: Secure the Box to the Post

  • Position the box on top of the post and feed the remaining four screws through from the inside, connecting it to the post.
  • Tighten all screws using your screwdriver to ensure the box is sturdy.

How to Fit a Built-in Parcel Drop Box

Step 1: Prepare for Installation

  • Professional Assistance Recommended: We highly recommend seeking the help of a professional for this installation. Incorrect use of power tools or improper measurements can lead to mistakes that may affect the structural integrity of your property.
  • Safety First: If you choose to proceed on your own, ensure you have the necessary safety equipment and skills to handle power tools. It’s crucial to follow all safety precautions when cutting into walls or gates.

Step 2: Mark the Area

Considerations for Location

Fitting a parcel drop box right location is essential for ensuring convenience and security. Here are some key factors to consider:

Visibility: Select a spot that is visible to you and your delivery driver but not overly exposed to passersby. This reduces the risk of theft and ensures packages are left in a safe area.

Accessibility for Delivery Drivers: Ensure the location is easily accessible for delivery personnel. A spot close to the entrance or driveway can facilitate quick and efficient deliveries.
